SWEET WORDS....

There are a few that Maggie has said lately that I want to remember. Yesterday, we were at Target and she saw a goggle and snorkel set and said, "mommy, can you buy me these goggles and this breather breathe?" When we were praying one night, and she said, "thank you God for our food, and we pray for the people who have to eat grass." On another praying occasion, she thanked God for her teeth, toothbrush, bones, etc. I just thought it was so cute. Kids think about the smaller things in life because they are so innocent, and I love that. They can find "little" things to be thankful for. Also, a few weeks ago, Maggie and I were leaving a restaurant and a lady approached me and ask if I had a dollar or two so she could get some food. Well, before I knew what I said, I told her no, and told Maggie to get in the car(I think I was just trying to get Maggie away from the situation more than anything). Anyways, immediately, I felt guilt. Not the kind of guilt you feel because she didn't have money and I chose to not give her any, but I felt like I should have shown her kindness and kinda let it be a teachable moment for Maggie. Weird thing is, I NEVER have cash on me. As soon as the lady asked me for money, I remembered that I had $2 cash, but everything happened so fast I was just ready to get in the car. I did NOT feel threatened by this situation. We were in front of a busy place and people are constantly coming in and out. So, when we get in the car, Maggie starts saying "mommy, the lady is hungry. She doesn't have any money!" The tables are turned...I am now learning a lesson from a 5 year old! So, I dug in my purse and got the $2 and we caught up with the lady a few buildings away. All the while, Maggie is hanging out of the window hollering..."mam, mam!" We gave her the money and then when we were pulling off, Maggie said, "mommy do you thing she lost her devit(debit) card?" If she only understood that you have to have money in the bank to use a debit card...she does not quite understand this concept yet! Love my sweet girl!
